kellerbook

kellerbook, originally uploaded by Tawny Fowler.

My sister and I traveled on to Tuscumbia, Alabama for the Helen Keller Festival. My sister was an Early Interventionist for AIDB the previous year and she graduated with intent to become a speech pathologist or an audiologist. She currently works with autistic children.
I have worn hearing aids since I was three years old after a series of ear infections and a doctor's bad judgment. I finally read Helen Keller's Story of My Life. I had developed a plan before the semester ended to do projects on Travel Photography. I wanted to represent my interpretations of traveling locally due to limited financial funds and the ticking down of my time left in college. I have a lot of work to do to get my writing up to par, so maybe this whole blogging fiasco can help.
So while reading up on some fun places to go around Alabama and other Southeastern States, I found out about the Helen Keller Festival. "No way!" My sister had of course heard of it and said she wanted to go, so we planned on going. After lots of obstacles that threatened to prevent us from going, right on up to TRAVELOCITY booking us wrongly and trying to put it all on us to pay up the difference (which we said a big fat Heyy No..), we made it. Tuscumbia's not much, but it was nice.
This book of braille was set up inside a back room of Helen Keller's home with other trophies and memorabilia; photos, a bronze cast of a child Helen, letters, notes, etc. I'll post other photos later.
